Superfly

Darkest of night
With the moon shining bright
There's a set goin' strong
Lotta things goin' on
The man of the hour
Has an air of great power
The dudes have envied him for so long...

Welcome to my weekly Saturday morning dance party.
If you’ve never heard the Curtis Mayfield song "Superfly", please go indulge yourself on the YouTubes. Go NOW and shake your booty. Come back soon. (Swipe to see it glow in the dark at the end.)

This one lives in Seattle now.  (Not for sale.)

This one glows under black light.  WHEEEEEEE!

No One But My Darlin'

Good morning, my little color nugget! This record is No One But My Darlin', by Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys.
This #paintedrecord is ***SOLD*** and headed down to the Lone Star State, to one of my former hometowns of #Austin.

Just finished this mostly blue and red #psychedelic beauty. Sparks have the most unique labels. Hello, cute puppy dog.

Long, strange trip to Terrapin Station

Click the link below to check out my latest Grateful Dead mandala record on Instagram. This one went to a faraway place, to a person who I haven't seen in almost 40 years. Long, strange trip. Like whoa.

Are You Really Mine?

Finally done! And this one is going to a fabulous person at MoPop (the museum formerly known as Experience Music Project a.k.a., my old job) today.

I've included a picture of what it looks like under black light. Wooooo......

The stars are dancing like diamonds in the moonlight

When I was a young kidlet, I begged my mom to send me a Shaun Cassidy tape to play on my crappy old tape recorder while I was away at sleep away camp. And to my delight and surprise, she actually sent it.  Doo Ron Ron was the popular song, but I actually preferred Hey Deanie, and wow, look at what 45 turned up over 4 decades later, somewhere at a garage sale in Texas (courtesy of my sweet mom AGAIN). It brought back all the central  Texas summer sunshine memories of the late 1970s.  Also, this painted record glows under black light. Wooooo!

Oh hello, Jimmy Page. I see you hiding in there behind Mr. Cassidy.

Will You be Staying After Sunday

I'm painting another record. Can you taste the rainbow? (PS: This 45 is called The Peppermint Rainbow.) I must therefore use all the colors.
Be sure to search up “Will You be Staying After Sunday” by The Peppermint Rainbow 🌈 on YouTube. Listen to the song on this record I’m painting. SO VERY AWESOME.

A beautifully framed Rachro record...Quincy Jones

Someone bought one of my painted records and framed it in the most outrageously cool way.  I am digging this so hard.  Check it out.

Come and see more of my painted things on Facebook or Instagram.

Honeymoon in Hawaii

Here is one of my most recent painted records, inspired by a Hawaiian plumeria.  I've never been to Hawaii.  One day.  This record is SOLD and has gone to live with a very awesome person.

My Mind in Sky

Cute, colorful, and abstract---here is Steve Winwood's single Arc of a Diver.
This 45 has gone to live in another state, with some other vinyl friends.

The Making of Moody Blue

Well, howdy Elvis fans!  This tasty blue vinyl record, Moody Blue, was painted for a person who loves the color purple and who lives in Scotland.  I think this mandala is soooooooothing to the eye!

More photos that show detail will be added later, but for your viewing pleasure and entertainment, here is a video showing the design process, starting from scratch!
Bonus:  accompanied by Pearl Jam

Write, Draw, Sleep, Drink Coffee. 'Cause this is my united mandala of whatever.

What if you wanted a certain Rachro record but someone else already got it?  Bummer.  It happens.

If you really loved a certain record but the original is no longer available,  don't despair - because now some of my previous designs can be printed on merchandise.
It's not a record, but it's still just as cool.

If you have a personal request for a specific record in my collection that you'd like to see in my merch store, please contact me and I'll see what I can do to help.  But check this out.  I must say, the journals and pillows look super cool with a record mandala on them.
I love the hardback blank books, too.  So many nifty doodads.
Travel coffeemug!  Now yer talkin'!

Smackwater Jack

I knew that when I had Quincy Jones as my record muse that this one would turn out totally freaking cool. And it did.

The colors on this painted record are much richer in person.  The brown design is a reddish chocolate color and the background colors are a beautiful pale aqua, light blue, and dark blue.  The edges are an orange/rust color.

If you want to hear an incredible, mostly acoustic version of What's Goin' On (made famous by Marvin Gaye), then get yourself a copy of this record.  Unfortunately, this one was too scratched up to listen to, but there's always YouTube or your local record store.
